About
Jesse Wallace was born in Paris, where he currently lives and works. He is a resident at POUSH Manifesto. He has exhibited at various prestigious venues, including the 70th anniversary of Jeune Création at the Espace Niemeyer, the Musée Saint-Remi in Reims, and the Centre d’Art Contemporain Passages in Troyes.
Wallace develops an artistic practice deeply rooted in the documentation and transformation of space. His works are characterized by a fusion of documentary photography and installation, creating environments that challenge traditional notions of temporality and spatiality.
Wallace is particularly interested in how places can transcend their material existence to become spaces of memory and fiction. His photographs, often taken with long exposure times, capture not only the image of a place but also the subtle movements and changes that occur over time. This technique allows for the superimposition of cosmic and terrestrial temporalities, creating works where the sun seems to consume and sometimes even burn the photographic medium. Through this approach, Wallace transforms each image into an infinite expanse, with no visible limits, where memories and realities merge and propagate.
Wallace's work goes beyond mere image capture; it engages in a profound reflection on memory, history, and architecture. Through his installations and exhibitions, he creates immersive experiences where the viewer is invited to explore transformed environments and question the very nature of perception and space. Projects like "Smokestack Lightning" and "Global Pool Club" showcase his ability to co-curate and exhibit works that dialogue with their immediate environment while opening new artistic perspectives.
